Shearing for a Cure

Tentative Date for 2023 Shearing for a Cure is Saturday July 8, 2023

The event is free and open to the public and will be from 9 am to 5 pm rain or shine.
 
The sheep shearing judged blade shearing contest is 9:30 -12 with awards at 12:30.
 
The alpaca shearing demonstration clinic begins at 1 PM.
 
Self guided farm tours and animal visits all day.
 
We anticipate vendors, farm exhibits and demonstrations that may include felting, weaving, honey bees, farrier and equine dental demonstration/information and pony rides for children by Monica Demors. 
 
We welcome supporters who wish to volunteer to help with the event to contact us (martinbangor@aol.com or 848-4969).
 
To help with parking, please park on the grass perpendicular to the driveway to maximize parking space

Maple Crest Farm, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit,  in Hermon, Maine will host a free, open to the public, fund raiser for Cancer Care of Maine and will include a sheep shearing contest organized by Edie Kirshner, a fourth generation sheep shearer.  There may also be an alpaca shearing demonstration as well.
