Shearing for a Cure is Saturday July 8, 2023
The Maine State Shearing Contest will take place on Saturday 7/8/23. “Shearing For A Cure” is a non profit fundraiser for Cancer Care of Maine hosted by Maple Crest Farm at 2718 Union Street in Hermon. All proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to Cancer Care of Maine. This is a nationally accredited sheep shearing contest to include machine and blade shearing. Contestants are judged by experience, time and resultant shear quality. The shearing competition will begin at 9:30 AM. Awards will take place after the last heat around midday and the event will take place rain or shine from 9-5.
This event is free and open to the public. Self guided farm tours for our Maple Crest Farm Animal Rescue are available along with food and product vendors. Donations, which are tax deductible, are very much appreciated. The donations support the sheep shearing heritage and cancer care. Tax deductible documentation can be provided when desired.
Sponsors, vendors and volunteers are very much welcomed and anyone interested can contact Maple Crest Farm Animal Rescue at 848-4969.
